Not quite food related

Sorry, I have to rant real quick here. Why, WHY are we still trying to extract more oil? How could that possibly fix ANYTHING, particularly the long-term outlook for gas prices and such? Isn't the definition of stupidity something like "doing the same thing and expecting different results?" HELLO!!!!!!!!!, use less petroleum and other fossil fuels in the first place (via more efficient vehicles and walkable/transit-oriented cities, etc), and then you don't need to worry about increasing production. It's pretty simple, folks...
